The UIL Academic Contest for elementary students was held last December, and today our VES fifth graders who competed at the event were recognized at luncheon held in the cafeteria. Parents of the students were invited to attend the luncheon, during which all participants received a t-shirt and those who placed in their event received their medal and/or ribbon.
VES fifth graders who competed at the UIL Academic Contest were: Oral Reading – Kevora Casel and Addy Mejia; Spelling – JaKaiden White, Braxton Nail and Jase McLaughlin; Chess Puzzle – Stephen Say, Luke Parmer and La’Darius Wilson; Number Sense – Landry Conley, A.J. Valles and Isaiah Boyd; Music Memory – Bryleigh Owens, Torren Adams, Lillyanne Jagodinski and Beckett Bayer; Ready Writing – Sharlar Awar, Luke Parmer and Cayson Villegas; and Dictionary Skills – Sharlar Awar, Landry Conley and Fernanda Caudra.
UIL sponsors for the fifth grade were Jessica Miller, Tori Hines, Jayley Willingham, Kirsten Atnip, Kelli Coble, and Linda Delapena.
