February is Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month and today VHS hosted a lunch for owners and representatives of local businesses that participated in our Job Shadowing Day earlier this month. On that day, 41 seniors who take a CTE class "shadowed" someone who works in a career field they are interested in pursuing. CTE teachers, Elly Gonzales, Audrey Hastings, Candace Adams, and Brooke Meinzer, and those who attended the lunch discussed how well Job Shadowing Day went, as well as ideas on how to improve it. The Culinary Arts students provided the meal for the lunch.

Our McCord students will be receiving a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to try during snack time over the next several weeks as part of a Fresh Fruit Vegetable Program grant the school received. Today the students got to try green Granny Smith Apples. To read more about the program, please follow this link: https://www.vernonisd.org/article/2053327
