There was sweetness overload at VHS earlier this week, as the advanced culinary students in Mrs. Hasting's class closed out their baking unit by learning to bake and decorate 3 layer cakes. Each of the student groups chose their design and recipe. The flavors included vanilla, chocolate, chocolate raspberry, matcha, butter pecan, peanut butter, and lemon blueberry. Several hours of hard work were put in by each group, and all of the cakes turned out beautifully!! Almost, too beautiful to eat.

There were cheers and screams of "BYE BYE" as students in Mrs. Courtney Jansa's 3rd grade class dunked their worries about the upcoming STAAR test in the trash. The students discussed and shared their worries, which allowed each of them to see they were not alone. The class also talked about things they could do to get through it together and how to feel confident. They also created a support chain. The students wrote affirmations to encourage themselves, and the papers were then put together to create a paper chain.

Remember -- tomorrow is an early release Friday for Vernon ISD! We hope our students enjoy their early start to the weekend.
