Our VMS Symphonic Band was the third band to perform during the Vernon ISD Band Program's Christmas Concert, which was held Thursday evening at the Wilbarger Auditorium. They sounded wonderful and did a great job.

The VMS Jingle Bell Jog & Santa Strut will be held Saturday!! Participants can choose between a 1 mile or 5K distance. All participants will receive a Jingle Bell Necklace and a prize will be awarded for the Best Dressed! Late registration continues up until the 9 a.m. start time. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m., at the VHS Gym. Late registration is $10 for students and $20 for adults. You may also register by scanning the QR code below. Money raised from the Jingle Bell Jog & Santa Strut will go toward VMS student incentive prizes and student field trips.

Our students who competed in the District 7-3A Junior High Academic Meet held earlier this month did a great job. We had 121 students compete at the meet and we brought home 22 medals and 42 ribbons. Our journalism students are hard at work on the 2026 Yamparika Yearbook, and here is a deadline local businesses and parents of senior students need to be aware of. Local businesses who would like to support the 2026 Yamparika Yearbook have until Jan. 23 to purchase an ad to run in the yearbook. Vernon High School has Christmas-themed dress up days for the last two weeks before our Christmas Break. This Monday's theme was "Here Comes Santa" and yesterday's theme was "Feliz Navidad." Here are just a few pics of some of our students and staff getting into the mood of the day.

Last weekend Mrs. Hastings' Advanced Culinary class had the privilege of catering for one of the homes for the Vernon Tour of Homes. Here are some photos of the delicious goodies the students made, along with how they arranged and presented the food to guests as they toured the house. Mrs. Hastings said she was very proud of the students and the amazing opportunities they are able to share together. She added their skills have grown so much and that the students always amaze her with their creativity.

Vernon High School has started a Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America chapter. FCCLA is a student organization that promotes personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Science education. The group integrates into the classroom to help students apply their skills, build career readiness, and strengthen their communities through activities like community service, competitive events, and leadership conferences. The newly-elected officers for the group are President Chloe Diekmann; Vice-President Annabell Rodriguez; Treasurer Kylie Pauly; Secretary Jacklyn Maldonado; and Historian Lucia Garcia. Members of the group have already begun service projects and preparations for competitive events. Mrs. Audrey Hastings is the FCCLA sponsor.

Our 4th & 5th grade students closed out their Christmas Program by coming together on stage and performing three songs. Their first song is our theme song for the school year, while the second song honors our military veterans.
