Earlier this week students in our VMS Life Skills class worked on their fine motor skills while decorating Gingerbread Houses as they began celebrating the Christmas season. They all did a great job.
Our Vernon Lady Lions will be on the road this afternoon, as they will travel to Wichita Falls to take on the City View Lady Mustangs in a District 7-3A basketball game. There is no sub-varsity games today, so the varsity game will begin at 3:15 P.M. Good Luck!!! We're backing you Lady Lions!!
When the dismissal bell rings today and our students leave our campuses, Vernon ISD will officially be on its Christmas Break. VISD staff will return and normal office hours will resume on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, while we will welcome our students back to the classroom on Wednesday, Jan. 7. We hope all of our VISD students and their families, along with all of our VISD family, has a wonderful Christmas Break.

We're 5 months away from our Commencement Exercises for our Class of 2026! Graduation has been scheduled for Saturday, May 23, ever since the start of the school year; however, the time has been changed and the ceremony will now begin at 9:30 a.m. Please be sure and note that change for your graduation invitations and any graduation activities.
Tomorrow is an Early Release Friday for Vernon ISD, as we start our Christmas Break. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!
Due to the UIL mandated "dead days" VISD students will not have access to school facilities or equipment for five consecutive days -- Dec. 23 thru Dec. 27. No workouts or practices with VISD coaches or on VISD property will be held. This includes athletics and other UIL activities as well.

The VMS Winter Formal will be held Thursday, with a Winter Formal King and Queen for each grade being crowned during the event. The 6th grade Winter Formal Queen nominees are Shiloh Williams, Moo Paw, Halle Morris, Keely Lehman, and Saydi Flynn. King nominees are Camden Castaneda, D'Angelo Galvan, Kaiden Ramirez, and Luke Luster. Not pictured is king nominee Jaxen Collier. The Winter Formal will begin at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, in the VMS Gym.

It's Game Day for our Lady Lions, as they open District 7-3A play today on the hardcourt!! Seven students who are taking a dual-credit math class at Vernon College were honored at the Vernon ISD Board of Trustees regular business meeting Monday night for earning College Algebra Academic Excellence recognition from Vernon College for the Fall Semester. Those students presented at the trustee meeting were Brandon Juarez, Rodrigo Olivas, Sriram Kadiyala, Lily Beam, Bowie Eakin, Jeana Martinez, and Klancy Sherrill. Their college instructor was Paula Whitman.
Today, VMS & VHS PTO delivered a s’mores bar, smiles, and thank-yous to VHS and VMS teachers and staff, generously provided by Hillcrest Pharmacy, to celebrate the end of the third six weeks and first semester.

Last week, students in our VHS Culinary Arts program provided Christmas cookies for the Vernon Regional Retired School Employees Association's annual Christmas party. The culinary arts students also shared some of their experiences and what they have learned in the culinary art classes. Providing the entertainment for the party were four Roarin' Lion Band members, who performed in a woodwind quartet.
