Vernon ISD would like to thank all of the local businesses for allowing our students to shadow your employees and give them a taste of an average work day in your profession.
Over 40 Vernon High School seniors got to see what a “day in the life” of their possible career choice looked like today, as they shadowed employees at approximately 22 local businesses. The businesses ranged from a hair salon to a bank, a real estate office, an accounting firm, and the fire station and police department. Our Lions received a little bit of revenge last night as they knocked off the Bowie Jackrabbits, 59-44, in a District 7-3A game. Bowie defeated Vernon in the first round of district play. With the win, the Lions are now 7-3 in district and tied for second place with City View. The teams have two more games to go in the regular season. Both have secured a spot in the playoffs. The Lions will host No. 9-ranked Holliday here Friday night.
Our Lady Lions wrapped up their regular season last night with a 39-27 victory over Bowie. Vernon finishes in third place in District 7-3A and will move on to the playoffs. The Lady Lions are scheduled take on Comanche at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Anson High School Gym in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Comanche finished second in District 8-3A. The last time the Lady Lions made the playoffs was the 2021 season.
Before the tip-off of last night's District 7-3A game against Bowie, Adarius Williams was honored for reaching the 1,000-point plateau for his high school basketball career.
