We completed our VMS Hygiene Drive Thursday and the class winning the Caramel Apple Bar for bringing the most items was Coach Northcutt's. His class collected 380 items. The highest contributing student was Lola Luster who brought 300 items. Mrs. Frank's class finished second with 279 items, and there are only 7 students in the class. They also received a trip to the Caramel Apple Bar. A total of 1,230 hygiene items were collected. The items will be given to across the VISD when they are needed. VISD Social Worker Nicole Cameron, VMS Nurse Jennifer Walker and and the VMS Life Skills Department were in charge of the drive.
Also, a big THANK YOU to Bevo's for donating the serving trays for the Caramel Apple Bar.
Last week was a fun one for McCord teachers and staff, as they participated in Secret Staff Spirit Week. Each day teachers and staff have dressed up without telling the students to see if they notice! Monday was Manic Mix-Match Monday where they dressed mix-matched; on Tired Tuesday they wore our pajamas to school; on Wednesday they wore pink because "We wear pink on Wednesdays."; on Thirsty Thankful Thursday they brought anything but a cup for a tasty treat from Mrs. Bloom. Friday completed their Secret Spirit Week and they wore stripes because they were "break"-ing out of McCord for Thanksgiving. Below are pictures from their Thirsty Thankful Thursday.
On Friday, our VMS Gifted & Talented students attended a production of "Beauty and the Beast" at Altus High School. The GT students raved about the play afterwards and gave it great reviews. This was the first time for several of our students to see a play performed live on stage.
