All VES students were in the gym this morning listening to campaign speeches from members of the Student Council who were running for Student Council offices. One little sister wanted to make sure her big brother knew she was supporting his candidacy for Student Council President.

President -- Isaiah Boyd, Braxton Nail, Alexandra Cox and Logan Ware;
Vice President -- Chloe Feltman, Austin Lehman, Allison Ferguson and Landry Conley (not pictured);
Secretary -- Destynee McDonald and Corvyn Martinez;
Treasurer -- Beckett Bayer and Luke Parmer.
This morning the VES Student Council members gave campaign speeches as they run for offices on the council. All VES students will vote Monday and select a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
Every second and third grade student in Mrs. Sandie Parmer's art classes are represented in this wall art that was hung Thursday afternoon in the front hall of the Vernon Elementary School building. The students were instructed to put a dot in the center of their paper and to paint circles until the whole page was covered in paint.
The next week, students cut their papers into fourths and they re-glued the squares together by following an example they were given. After that, Mrs. Parmer glued all the papers onto bulletin board paper.
The final size of the project was 15 feet by 9 feet. #Better Together is the saying that has been used in staff communications all year as the Central and Shive campuses were joined to form the new elementary school. Mrs. Parmer said both campuses eagerly anticipated the move into the new school in hopes that everyone would benefit from being under the same roof.
Approximately 250 students participated in the project, and the hope is that the fourth and fifth graders will contribute to the wall quilt in the 2nd semester of school.
Mrs. Parmer also gave a big "Thank you," to the maintenance guys for hanging the wall paper quilt.
Our Lions wrap up the 2023 regular season tonight in Bowie. Go Snare A Jackrabbit!!!
Students in Coach Kia Dixon's Math and Models class had fun with their cardboard box project. Two of the boats made a lap in the pool at Vernon College, but none were able to make another lap. "The Motor-Boaters" finished first, with "The Senior Sleepover" taking second and "Lightning McQueen" coming in third. To read more about the project, go to https://www.vernonisd.org/article/1321984
