Our 4th & 5th grade students showed off the artwork they had worked on this year to parents and family last night during their Art Walk. The artwork was hung throughout the second floor hallways, and there was a steady stream of visitors viewing the displays. We have some very talented artists in these grades!!











As members of the Roarin' Lion Band prepare to go on their trip next weekend, an important meeting of the band booster club is scheduled for next Tuesday.


Workforce Solutions North Texas will be hosting a Texas Hire Ability Job Fair on Thursday, May 30. The job fair is for students ages 16-22 who have a disability, 504 plan, IEP, or would qualify for protection under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.


Recently two VHS students earned certifications. Addison Ballard earned her Intuit Quickbooks online certification, while Atticus Mixon earned is Adobe Certified Professional Photoshop certification. Congratulations to them both!!


Last week, parents of all 5th grade girls should have received a letter from VISD School Nurse Mandie Thomas, RN, concerning a mandatory film concerning the beginning stages of puberty that will be shown on Friday, May 3. The "Always Changing-About You" program is based on national research and consultation with school nurses, health educators, parents and medical professionals. In order for your daughter to view the film, a parent or guardian consent is required. If the letter/consent form did not make it home, or if you questions or concerns, please contact Mandie Thomas at VES.

Last night VHS drama coach Dustin Swatzell took his theater students on a trip to Wichita Falls to see a performance of "The Pirates of Penzance" which was performed at Midwestern State University.


Congratulations!!! To VHS powerlifter Marli Limon for earning Texas High School Girl's Powerlifting Association Academic All-State honors. Marli made the second team. Way to go Marli!! We're proud of you!!


Yesterday was National Administrative Professional's Day and Vernon ISD celebrated the day throughout our district. Some Administrative Assistants receives plants and flowers, while others were taken out to lunch. We appreciate them all!!




12 Vernon Lions received "Our Kind of Guy" and "Lions Club" honors for the fifth six weeks, which concluded last week. Criteria to qualify for the groups include making the A or A/B honor roll, improvement in the weight room on different lifts, and community service hours. Earning OKG designation were Donivan Montano, Zero Nine, Joseph Menendez-Garcia, Chris Calvillo, Merrick Byars, Jacob Brown and Israel Espinoza.
Earning Lions Club designation were Sriram Kadiyala, Adarius Williams, Brandon Juarez, Bowie Eakin and Christian Gallegos. Congratulations guys!! Great work!!


Our Vernon Elementary 4th & 5th Graders will be displaying the artwork they have produced this year during the annual "Art Walk" set for Thursday evening. Stop by and check it out! We have some very good artists!!


From our Administrative Building to the Bus Barn and all the campus in between, Vernon ISD is blessed to have wonderful administrative assistants who help keep everything running smoothly. Today is National Administrative Professional's Day and we want all of our admin pros to know how much we appreciate each and every one of you for the work you do!!


Our VHS tennis team will be competing Wednesday and Thursday in the District 7-3A Singles & Doubles Tournament. The first and second place finishers in each event will advance to the regional tournament. Good luck!!


Our Lions baseball team hits the road for the final time today as they travel to Wichita Falls to take on the City View Mustangs!! The JV game is set for 4:30 p.m., with the varsity game to begin at 7 p.m. Good luck Lions!!


Last Friday, students in Mrs. Allison Stanley's Honors Physics class tested their egg drop vehicle in an Impulse Lab. All students had the same 9 materials and had to use all of the materials in building their vehicle. The vehicles were dropped from 1 meters, 2 meters and 3 meters. For extra credit, the vehicles were dropped from the height of the roof. The first egg casualty was a 2 meters, and 2 eggs survived the extra credit drop.











Enjoy some good Chicken Spaghetti and then have fun playing Bingo next Thursday, May 2, at the VMS Cafeteria!! Tickets are $10 for adult and $5 for students if purchased before the event. Tickets are $12 for adult and $7 for students at the door.

We have some outstanding bus drivers who make sure our students get to school and back home safely every school day!! Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, but Vernon ISD appreciates our bus drivers every single day!! THANK YOU!!


Our Vernon Lady Lions just missed out on a trip to the Class 3A State Track & Field Meet today, as they finished third in the 800-Meter Relay at the Class 3A Region 1 Meet that concluded today. The event was scheduled to finish Saturday, however the rain pushed the conclusion of the meet to today. The top two places in each event qualify for State.
The relay team of Klancy Sherrill, Zayleigh Sweet, Mari Johnson and Key'Maria McBride took third with a time of 1-minute, 46.20-seconds. Klancy also finished seventh today in the 300-Meter Hurdles with a time of 48.84 seconds.
On Friday, Key'Maria just missed out on a trip to State in the Triple Jump, finishing third with a leap of 37-feet, 2.5-inches. In the High Jump, Klancy cleared 5-feet and finished eighth, and Mari had a throw of 105-feet, 8-inches to finish tenth in the Discus.
